Freedom Fencing International Distributors LLC Success Story

Ralph Sarabia of Freedom Fencing International Distributors LLC contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) in April of 2010.  Ralph was originally seeking counsel with process improvement, advertising, and business plan assistance

                Ralph established Freedom Fencing International Distributors LLC on April 3, 2007 as a sole proprietorshipFreedom Fencing International Distributors LLC is a high quality Vinyl Fencing business operated in southern California, with two additional stores in Bahamas Abaco and Nassau.  The mission is to provide fast, affordable and honest service to customers.   Ralph strongly believes that his experience in the military has allowed him to provide structured and disciplined service as well as a competitive edge to the market.

Freedom Fencing International Distributors LLC has been successful in the creation of several jobs as Ralph has hired additional help to assist with multiple projects.  He has recently obtained an assignment that allowed him to increase his sales by $8,450.  Ralph’s mission to provide excellent service proved fruitful as his excellent workmanship allowed him to secure an additional job from a neighboring company.  Ralph has also recently been licensed as a distributor which has allowed him to go green and assist companies in the Bahamas with green solar lighting, irrigation systems, and much more!

Ralph continues to work with VBOC for assistance with marketing and expansion.  VBOC looks forward to witnessing Ralph’s further successes with his company!
 

 

BCV Construction Success Story

                Bill Vaughn first contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) in January of 2008 and was seeking financial assistance with BCV Construction, a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) in Northridge, California. 

                Bill joined the Navy Reserves in September 2001 while attending California State University Los Angeles and was deployed in Kuwait during his time in the service.  He was able to complete his Bachelors of Science from CSULA in December 2003.

Bill established BCV Construction in April of 2004, and was awarded his first contract with the Veterans Administration in August of 2008.  He has also been able to secure contracts with CSULA and other campuses around the State.  BCV Construction has been able to successfully increase their revenue by more than 50% each year, and have loyal customers in both state and federal locations.

BCV Construction has also started IRC Distribution to assist with income generation and lack of work during tough economic times.  IRC sells materials for maintenance, repair and operations for state and federal agencies.  IRC has been helpful in locating projects for the both companies to collaborate getting future work.  Both BCV Construction and IRC companies look forward to continue working together for future projects.
 

 

ECOSSE Moto Works Success Story

Don Atchison first contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) in August of 2006.  Don was originally seeking assistance with financing for his existing business - ECOSSE Moto Works.


ECOSSE was established in October 2001 and has been successfully engineering and fabricating distinctive, heirloom-quality motorcycles by hand in limited numbers for discerning enthusiasts.  The seven contractors with ECOSSE take their time building a few units a year to ensure a concerted focus on design execution, quality, customer service, and brand management.  Since conception, ECOSSE has built a coveted, worldwide brand that includes sales to celebrities, athletes and rock stars.


ECOSSE continues to expand with a lifestyle division to produce additional products that complement their motorcycles and engage the founders’ ongoing personal interests.  VBOC is currently assisting Mr. Atchison with ECOSSE’s expansion and is grateful to be able to witness the success of the company!

 

Farr Construction Success Story

 

Michael and Jeff Farr of Farr Construction contacted the VBOC in February 2010, seeking assistance in obtaining working capital to expand their commercial construction company in Nevada and California.  Farr Construction has been in existence commencing August of 2006, and had been successful in bidding on and securing government contracts for both state and local municipalities for storage tank cleaning and coating work.  

One of Farr Construction’s objectives for contacting VBOC was assistance to write an updated business plan to submit to SBA approved lenders in order to secure an additional line of credit that would allow the company to bid on larger projects as a Prime as well as reduce the payment cycles to collect payment in a more timely fashion.

As of May 1, 2010, while Farr Construction was in the process of refining their business plan and preparing to begin contacting financing sources, the company was awarded five more contracts totaling 1.2 million dollars.  Farr Construction was awarded the contracts as a Prime Contractor.    This is great news for the company and is evidence that there are still opportunities available in the marketplace to expand small businesses.  

The VBOC continues to work with Farr Construction to look at all options to help them secure the needed working capital to be able to maintain their growth and profitability as they perform on their new contracts.  

 

Nordic Engineering

Jessica DeMartini has been a client of the Veteran Business Outreach Center (VBOC) commencing February 2010.  Ms. DeMartini contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center with the request for assistance in Engineering R&D and 8a certification.

Jessica  DeMartini and Bruce Drake started their business Nordic Engineering on May 28, 2009 and originated with three employees.  The business is a privately owned Civil Engineering and Surveying firm located in Cupertino, CA they provide services such as Topographic surveys, Boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, Construction staking, Grading and Drainage plans, Lot line adjustments, legal descriptions and more for commercial and residential projects in the Bay area.

Nordic Engineering has been quite successful within the few months it has been established.  The company has been able to significantly increase their revenue up to 80% from the first month of operation.  They are also doubling their staff allocations to assist with their rapidly expanding projects.

Jessica continues to work with the Veterans Business Outreach Center for assistance in obtaining government contracts.  The VBOC is excited to witness the growth of Nordic Engineering and congratulate them on their outstanding successes!

Aramis Villegas has been a client of the Veteran Business Outreach Center commencing August 2008.  Mr. Villegas contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center with the request for assistance in marketing, advertising, and legal structure..

Aramis has been successful in the start of his own business, PARADISUS Culinary Solutions, LLC, in which he provides personal chef, catering, event planning, culinary classes, and consulting services.  He has also been successful in the creation of two jobs, one for himself and another for a full time employee.

E-Nok Innovations, Inc. Success Story

 

Ronnie Jones Jr. originally contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) commencing March of 2009.  Ronnie was seeking assistance with the expansion of his business, as he was facing a stagnant phase and was unable to secure revenue for the previous two years.

 

Ronnie owns a traffic control design and material supply business and has been successful in the creation of ten jobs since he commenced services with VBOC.  Ronnie believes that the combination of both word of mouth, as well as the certifications he possesses have contributed to his success in revenue.  Ronnie has obtained several certifications in the following areas; certified disadvantaged and minority business enterprise, disabled business certified, small business certified and underutilized business certified.

 

Ronnie is currently seeking a business loan to assist with labor and equipment costs for his rapidly expanding initiative, E-Nok Innovations, Inc.  He continues to work with VBOC for assistance with the loan process.
 

Reno Indoor Paintball, Inc.

Lawrence Kagawa contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) commencing September 2008.  Lawrence was seeking assistance with retail and sources of capital for his start-up initiative.

Lawrence opened Reno Indoor Paintball, a 12,000-square-foot facility at 1005 Standard Way, in February by hosting an 18-team tournament and is already looking forward to expanding his operation.

The business, which has one office employee and a team of 10 volunteer referees, turns a profit by outfitting paintballers and by renting out the facility to corporate groups, birthday parties, and bachelor and bachelorette parties. Patrons who don’t own their gear can rent packages, which include a paintball gun, protective clothing and 400 rounds. Rental packages can be upgraded with higher-end paintball guns.

Reno Indoor Paintball expends approximately 120 cases of paintballs every week to 10 days. Each case holds 2,000 paintballs. Kagawa started the business using personal funding, but has applied for a loan from the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative which assisted in paying for capital investments.   Kagawa also purchased a fleet of rental paintball guns, which are called markers, as well as protective clothing.Lawrence utilized the assistance from the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative (NMI), and skill sets obtained while serving in the Army to start-up his successful business initiative during tough economic times.
 

 

SAT Thale Enterprises

Steven Thale has been a client of the Veteran Business Outreach Center (VBOC) commencing February 2009.  Mr. Thale is the owner of SAT Thale Enterprises, a furniture repair and restoration service establishment.  Mr. Thale contacted the Veterans Business Outreach Center with the request for assistance in marketing, advertising, and process improvement.

SAT Thale Enterprises is a mobile furniture care and restoration service which provides assistance in the areas of; smoke and fire damage, color matching, touch-up and faux finishing, parts replacement and upholstery.  They also offer free estimates for furniture needs by traveling to their clients.  SAT Thale Enterprises possesses over twenty five years of experience in the furniture industry.

Mr. Thale has met with VBOC Consultants for assistance in defining marketing and selling strategies.  He has been successful in securing a business name, and developing market research to determine his target market.  Mr. Thale has created four jobs with new clients since the commencement of his collaboration with VBOC.

VBOC continues to work with Mr. Thale in an attempt to maintain and expand upon his current business initiative.

                        RMV Technology Group, LLC, SDVOSB/8a Firm

                               Gets First Space Agency Subcontract!

RMV Technology Group, LLC, a home based business, received its first subcontract with a space agency prime, due to the tireless efforts of its founder, Bob Vermillion and Renee Mitchell. Bob has a proven track record in the solution of electrostatic related problems for the aerospace, defense, medical device, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and biotechnology industries.  According to Renee, Director New Business Development, our unrelenting persistence and ‘just being in front of people’ may now finally be paying off.  Since 2001, we have been attending local and national trade shows, capabilities briefings, telephone calls and emails always with the focus on government contracting while continuing to grow our commercial business.   

 Bob has developed advanced ESD technologies with issuance of a US Patent and several patents pending, in which one of his technologies has been qualified for a NASA Mars Mission.

 As a First Place Winner of the Institute of Packaging Professional’s AmeriStar Award for the electronics category, Bob was inducted into the IoPP College of Fellows in May 2007. In February 2008, Bob founded and chairs the ESD Task Force (Medical Device Packaging Committee   https://www.iopp.org/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1539

 During the ESDA 25th Anniversary, Bob was presented with the Volunteer Recognition Award by IBM’s ESD program manager for his many contributions to Industry Standards activities and the local ESD community. Until 2003, Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley EOS/ESD Society for many years. In 2005, Bob joined the Advisory Board of Controlled Environment’s Magazine, a national technical cleanroom publication.  Industry training includes ESDiscovery 2000-2003 in the USA, Malaysia and Singapore. For the scientific community, Bob has lectured on the electrostatic properties of Inherently Conductive Polymers. In Mexico’s Silicon Valley, Bob has provided technical training for the engineering community, including contract manufacturing, procurement and management for both USA based and multinational companies.  

 Bob provides static control engineering, materials testing and facility auditing services, specification writing, 3rd party test and evaluation of incoming packaging, and most recently anticounterfeiting solutions for corporate packaging initiatives, including ESD/ESA validation of equipment centers for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.  For the academic community, Bob is a guest lecturer for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA (www.polypack.calpoly.edu) as part of his outreach efforts to increase awareness of the microchip’s effect on materials in the cleanroom, factory and for the consumer.      

Publishing extensively in the field of Electrostatics, Bob’s recent articles can be found in (Feb.08) Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News (www.pmpnews.com), Controlled Environments (www.cemag.us) and Conformity (www.conformity.com). Copies of these articles can be downloaded free off the respective websites.
